African Safari Sundowners In The Bush

Bush Meals, Campfire Dinners & Sundowners On Your African Safari.

Sundowner Experiences

Delight in the famous safari tradition of sundowner drinks in a breathtakingly beautiful spot inside the endless plains of the African wilderness or alternatively closer to your safari lodge.

Watch in silence the beauty of the endless sweeping plains. Your eyes will be drawn to a number of wildlife slowly making their way for a night rest – watch as darkness fall across the timeless landscape before you.

This is a classical moment on how you can finish your game drives; watching the sun set over the African wilderness there’s simply no feeling like this, good times for reconnecting with nature.

As the sun fades from view and the clouds turn dark you will be resting at the perfect spot complete with your favourite cocktail drinks in hand, sip on an ice cold gin and tonic, a sparkling glass of champagne, tasty homemade ‘bitings’ bonfire, and close to your loved ones or friends as the nightfall gently deepens around you and the sun sinks slowly over a classical safari landscape.

Tune in as the sounds of the night start to take over the African bush, and the night welcomes more predators to begin their nocturnal hunts.

African Bush Breakfast & Dinners

Bush Breakfast & Dinners while on safari have become identical with all game drives, this could also be an event in itself around a bonfire with entertainment such as light music or tribal dance performances. Bush meals are arranged at special chosen spots generally located outside of but very near the respective Lodges or Camps.

The meal menus can range from multi-course fine cuisine to more casual bush barbeque meals, prices for these special meals vary widely starting from USD 45 per person all the way to USD 100 per person for more luxurious bush meals.

No other fellow diners; just you, the chef and your driver. Sip champagne and fill up on buffet delicacies whilst enjoying panoramic views. Bush meals on safari can also be organised for a variety of group sizes including those planning on going for their Honeymoon safari, family safaris, and may also accommodate for certain special dietary requirements such as gluten free, vegan, vegetarian and even restricted vegetarian such as for Indian Jain diets which exclude use of Onions or Garlic as ingredients.

What To Expect

– Sip on an ice cold gin and tonic, local beers, a sparkling glass of champagne, tasty homemade ‘bitings’ or rather try a traditional dawa — Swahili for ‘medicine’, this delicious cocktail is Kenya’s other famous drink. Non-alcoholic options are available, regardless of their preference for alcohol.

– The golden evening light makes for wonderful photo opportunities. If you are celebrating a special occasion, please let us know so that we can select spots that offer the best possible view of the sunset, whether it’s a hill overlooking the plains, a riverbank with animals in view, or a quiet clearing in the bush.

– Sundowners are often accompanied by a selection of snacks, which can range from simple and traditional to elaborate and gourmet. In classic safari style, the snacks often include: biltong, nuts, samosas and chicken skewers, cheese and crackers; and fresh fruits.

– In the company of friends or family, enjoy the sights and sounds of a Maasai warrior light music or tribal dance performances, dancing and jumping — something you can join.
