Day 1 Nairobi – Masai Mara

7:30 am. – Your awaited African safari tour kicks off with a pick up at your Nairobi hotel or the Nairobi airport for your short transfer to Wilson Airport where you’ll board your safari plane for the approximately one-hour scenic flight to the Masai Mara Game Reserve.

Enjoy beautiful aerial views of the Kenyan landscape. Along the way, you can easily spot the Escarpment of the Great Rift Valley.

You’ll be landing at around mid-morning at the Masai Mara airstrip and be welcomed by your African Vulture Safaris guide who will escort you in a private safari vehicle heading straight to your Masai Mara safari lodge or tented camp, enjoy your first short en-route game drive in the great reserve. Settle in, refresh, and get ready for lunch.

During lunch, discuss with your guide about the park, the Kenya safari animals, and the different areas to visit. Afterward, you will go for your afternoon game drives in search of the famous Africa’s big five wildlife and many more.

This style of travel allows you to either go for unlimited drives or take time out to relax at your accommodation. The choice is yours.

Dinner and overnight at your Masai Mara tented safari camp or safari lodge.

Note: For those guests staying at conservancies who wish to travel to the Mara triangle area to view the Kenya Great Migration river crossings, there is an $100 per person surcharge.

Day 2 Full Day – Masai Mara

On this very day, we will wake up to an early morning drive as we watch the magical sunrise before us. It’s a great time for game viewing as it is cool and the wildlife is just emerging into the awakening day.

Since your safari trip to Africa is primarily about the Masai Mara Migration safari, get ready to witness a fateful flood of wildebeest crossing over the Mara River from the neighboring Serengeti National Park. Tens of thousands of wildebeests, zebras, and gazelle pour into the park on their annual trek searching for greener pastures.

We will do our best to ensure we track both the predators and large herds of various species in the vast savannah grasslands, home to all of Africa’s ‘Big Five’ – lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino. But there are many other mammal species in the Great Park.

Return to your Masai Mara tented camp/lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3 Full Day – Masai Mara

You’ve already tuned into the rhythms and lifestyle of the safari vacation in Africa. Discuss with your guide your plan for the day. What areas of the reserve have you not yet seen? Which wildlife would you like to see more of?

There are other activities of the park that will boost your experience here. Take an optional visit to one of the local Masai villages. You’ll get to meet these indigenous people and learn about their culture close up. Just ask your guide to make the arrangements.

Have you ever done a hot air balloon safari? For the ultimate Mara adventure, take an optional pre-dawn hot air balloon flight over the park. You’ll rise with the sun, literally, as below, the reserve comes alive with the light and wildlife. A never-to-be-forgotten adventure with 360 degrees views of the park and its resident wildlife. Let the office know about this request.

Return to your Masai Mara safari lodge or tented safari camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 4 Masai Mara – Nairobi

Our fourth and final day – let’s begin with a leisurely morning breakfast at your tented safari camp/ safari lodge, afterward you have an option to visit the Masai village before starting your journey back to Nairobi.

You’re now experienced safari-goers and can speak with some knowledge about the Kenya wildlife and the reserve.

Your dedicated expert driver guide will assist you with the checkout process as you proceed for the flight back to Nairobi.

At an advised time by our guide, we’ll pack into our African safari vehicle for our last drive en route through the park on the way to the airstrip.

We should touch down at Wilson Airport in Nairobi around 12:45 hrs.  One of our representatives will meet you for the transfer back to your Nairobi accommodation/ Nairobi airport for your flight back home, ending this amazing 4-days safari trip to Kenya.

Many safari goers will argue that the great migration is the best time of year for safari in Africa but the fact remains that Masai Mara is good all year round.
