There are two main islands of Zanzibar which include Pemba and Unguja. The island is also famous for its spice plantations which can be visited during your tour in Zanzibar. Spices such as nutmeg, cinnamon, turmeric, black pepper among others are grown in this island as well as tropical fruits. If you’re lucky enough, visit the spice plantation and get to know more about the spices and their uses.

Day 1 Nairobi

Arrive at anytime.

Jambo! Welcome to Kenya. You can arrive at any time as there are no activities planned for today. If you arrive early, perhaps relax in your room and make yourself at home as you prepare for the next day. Organize yourself and put your documentations in order or perhaps clothes.

Day 2 Nairobi/Arusha

Hit the road in style as you cross through the semi-arid lands of the Maasai people en route to Arusha, Tanzania. Marvel at the epic views of mighty Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance and swap stories with your road trip buddies!

The trip includes a border crossing from Kenya into Tanzania, so be sure to have your passport handy. While you're on the road, there will be a stop at an ATM and a market or shop to stock up on any supplies you might need for the coming days. Arrive in Mto wa Mbu and acquaint yourself with this delightful environment.

Day 3 Arusha/Serengeti National Park

Awake at dawn and embark on a game drive. You will head out while the animals are at their most active, then head back to camp for mealtime at around 11 am. After spending the middle of the day relaxing, just like the animals do, head out again as the day begins to cool. You'll return from this second game drive in time for dinner. There's also the option of a balloon ride over the park this morning – in place of some of today’s game drives. If you have pre-booked this activity, you will be picked up before dawn and driven to the launch site. After a safety briefing, glide through the dawn, sometimes at tree height, getting some amazing photo opportunities. Sometimes you will ascend, getting an overview of the enormity of the plains and the early morning movements of the teeming herds. After landing, indulge in a five-star bush breakfast, then be returned to camp.

Day 4 Serengeti National Park/Ngorongoro

Rise with the sun and enjoy another game drive as you leave the Serengeti. As the sun rises higher in the sky watch the animal kingdom come to life in this grassland savannah before returning to break down camp.

Then it’s on to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, famous for Africa’s best wildlife viewing. Get ready to explore this incredible, perfectly intact volcanic caldera, with epic views from the crater rim and watch as animals meander around below drinking water from the permanent supply on the crater floor.

You’ll be setting up camp in the late afternoon at a site near the crater rim and then you can spend the rest of the day enjoying one of the most beautiful wildlife havens on the planet.

Day 5 Ngorongoro/Arusha

Following an early morning breakfast, we depart for the Ngorongoro crater with your picnic lunch for a full day of tracking game in the crater floor. You will break for your picnic lunch at the Ngoitoktok springs picnic site. All the big five may be seen.

The crater floor offers excellent wildlife viewing all year round, and the photo opportunities here are unrivalled; with rich grasslands, swamps, acacia forests, and Lake Makat so get ready to see some magic. Our driver/guide takes us down into the crater and drives us to all the best spots to view wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled and camera ready to capture a pride of lions or a lone leopard walking along the savanna.

This huge caldera/collapsed volcano with about 250 square kilometers and 600metres deep. Its spectacular setting and abundance of wildlife makes it one of the natural great wonders of the world is referred to as the eighth wonder of the world or the Eden of Africa.

During late afternoon hours, depart to Arusha, sit back and let yourself enjoy the passing scenery as you cruise along.

Day 6 Arusha/Dar es Salaam

Prepare yourself for a long travel day heading for the Dar es Salaam. Stretch your legs along the journey, then jump back in the vehicle and watch the ever-changing scenery, read your favourite book or get to really know your fellow travellers.

Be on the lookout for the mighty Mt Kilimanjaro on the road towards Dar es Salaam and watch as the Tanzanian countryside passes by and the blue waters of the Indian Ocean.

We will spend the night here before embarking for the island beaches of Zanzibar.

Day 7 Dar es Salaam/Stone Town

After the jam packed last few days of this trip where you are going next is going to be just what you needed. Wake in Dar es Salaam before catching a ferry to Zanzibar. Filled with pristine white-sand beaches, winding cobblestone alleyways and fragrant bazaars, Zanzibar has had a colourful history – everything from slave traders to Arabian sultans and fruit exporters.

Get ready for charming island beaches, and take loads of pictures as you relax in a place that has long lured backpackers and adventurers to it’s sandy shores.

Zanzibar is a Muslim society. Immodestly dressed women or men in shorts will get harassed and cause great offence in Stone Town. On the beach, customs are a little more relaxed, but travellers are encouraged to be respectful of the island's culture and cover up when walking around. Never try to take a photograph without asking permission.

Day 8 Beach day in Zanzibar

Roll out of bed this morning in Stone Town and explore the heart of Zanzibar. Wander the winding historic unpaved alleyways of Stone Town passing by balconies and gigantic wooden carved doors along the way.

Consider booking in to an optional guided tour of the island's spice. Get lost and spend hours exploring the streets and squares, drinking potent coffee from pavement vendors and buying sweetmeats from tiny cafes. Keep an eye out for tinga-tinga paintings, antique shops, beautifully printed cloths (kangas and kikois worn by local people), little carved chests with copper inlays, and spices – all beautiful presents or memories to take home. Transfer to the tropical haven of Jambiani for a relaxing few days, this is the Indian Ocean at its best.

Day 9 Beach day in Zanzibar

Wake up in this island paradise and get ready to seize the day, The day is yours to spend as you choose; there are many ways you can spend your day – perhaps snorkelling in search of exotic fish is an excellent option, or you could take a traditional dhow boat on the water. You might also like to feast on a sumptuous lunch of grilled local seafood, or just relax in a hammock underneath a coconut tree with a good book. It's totally up to you!

Day 10 Stone Town

The tour ends in the late morning.

Today after checking out of your accommodation this morning, you will make your way back to Stone Town, arriving at a centrally-located hotel around 12 pm. With no activities planned for today, you are free to leave at any time.

Morning group transfer from the beach. Depart Stone Town upon arrival in the late morning. Onward travel should be booked no earlier than 2:30pm.
