Day 1 Nairobi – Aberdare National Park

(Approximately - 3 hours)

0730 Am. – Your driver/guide will pick you up from your Nairobi hotel or Nairobi airport. Our journey will take us over the central Kenya highlands, and we’ll make stops to visit local coffee and tea plantations.

One special stop we’ll make is at Katrina, to visit and explore the largest open-air market in East Africa. The deep greens of the forests at Aberdare National Park will greet your arrival as will the cool climate and mountain breezes.

Here you’ll have your choice of the park’s Tree Top Lodge for your stay. From your balcony, you can relax as you watch the wildlife below, drawn to the saltlick/waterhole located there.

The park hosts a variety of animals – elephants, rhinos, hyenas, baboons, monkeys, buffalo, warthogs and the elusive leopard.

If you’re lucky you might spot a rare giant forest hog, a bongo (large antelope), or African wild cat. During the evening hours we’ll head back to our lodge where you will spend the first night of your African safari tour.

Day 2 Aberdare National Park

From elephants to rhinos, leopards, monkeys, buffaloes, zebras, and bushbucks wildlife thrives at the Aberdare. While that alone is fascinating, you should see the park’s scenery and the unmistakable allure it conjures, one of the exciting highlights of this safari trip in Kenya.

You’re at the park’s heart for your morning game drive at dawn. Your expert guide gives you a wholesome tour of the park. There are over 50 wildlife species to admire. A captivating scenery to obsess over, the Chania and Karuru waterfalls included in this Kenya safari tour.

We’ll be on the lookout for the colourful vibrance of over 250 bird species for birders’ to spot. The game drives continue until lunchtime, when you have it in the jungle. You then continue with the game drive after lunch. While you’ll still spot generous amounts, high temperatures make wildlife harder to spot in the afternoons.

Not to worry, though; the Aberdare scenery more than compensates for this. Take it all in; the clear cascading waters, scattered acacias, forested ravines, and open moorlands.

Enjoy your evening with a treetops lodge view of the wildlife below in this very different African safari excursion.

Day 3 Aberdare – Ol Pejeta Wildlife Conservancy

After breakfast, we’ll exit Aberdare National Park and head north with views of Mt. Kenya, the country’s highest peak.

As we journey to Ol Pejeta we’ll travel through the farmland of central Kenya, passing local homesteads.

There are six resident prides of lions at Ol Pejeta and many of our guests are lucky to spot them.  The park also hosts a number of cheetah and leopards. Also, unique here, packs of African wild dogs.

You’ll also find giraffe, impala, gazelle, zebra, hippo, monkey, and baboon throughout the sanctuary.

But of special note, Ol Pejeta hosts and harbors a uniquely large population of black rhinos in a specially protected game corridor.

And perhaps one of the most unique facilities in East Africa is the park’s Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary. Here you’ll view rescued chimps being nourished back to health and living freely in their natural habitat. It’s the only place in any safari trip to Kenya where you can see and enjoy these lively creatures.

Day 4 Ol Pejeta Wildlife Conservancy

We’ll rise early to enjoy the morning light and first stirrings of wildlife upon the grasslands here.

There’s so much wildlife in Ol Pejeta and plenty of exciting optional activities to do, from tracking lions, night game drives, dog tracking, Masai village visits, among others – we’ll try to see who we can spot and perhaps repeat some of your favorite spots.

Ol Pejeta amazes with its diversity – lots of predators here, Africa’s famous Big Five… but also a special rhino sanctuary, protecting over one hundred of the endangered species.

This rich sanctuary provides views of other species such as impala, giraffe, baboon, jackal, and hyena. It is only in this African safari trip that you will see the last remaining 2 northern white rhinos.

Day 5 Ol Pejeta Wildlife Conservancy – Nairobi

The early morning light is beautiful at Ol Pejeta and we’ll take advantage of the time and the moment, with a game drive viewing the stirring wildlife before ending our Kenya safari tour.

We’ll enjoy breakfast and then it’s time for our drive back to Nairobi City.

We should arrive in Nairobi in the late afternoon hours, at approximately. 16:30 hrs. (4:30 pm).

We’ll drop you off at your Nairobi hotel, or the Nairobi airport signaling the end of your African safari package.
