This week long private safari visiting Ol Pejeta Conservancy and Masai Mara will take you to the northern and southern highlands of Kenya. On this safari you have an almost guaranteed chance to see the ” Big Five” of Africa, the Lion, Rhino, Elephant, Buffalo and Leopard.

Besides the big five wildlife, you will see dozens of other wildlife species, the endangered Northern white rhinos as well as the special Northern frontier wildlife, they include the Gerenuk, Grevy’s Zebra, reticulated giraffes and the Somali Ostrich.

Day 1 Nairobi – Ol Pejeta

Your Nairobi safari begins on arrival at Nairobi’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) you will be met by our driver who will transfer you to Wilson Airport.

Fly from here to the Ol Pejeta Conservancy, 1 hour away. Our guide from Ol Pejeta will meet you at the airstrip and drive you to your safari camp, where you can enjoy lunch and relax in the comfort of your tent. In the mid-afternoon, set off for a game drive to explore this wildlife-rich reserve, home to Kenya’s largest population of black rhino as well as the rest of the Big 5 species and plenty of unusual wildlife, too, including eland and Grevy’s zebra.

Watch in awe from the skies the Laikipia landscape with possible views of Mount Kenya, the second (2Nd) tallest peak in Africa (weather permitting).

Overnight at your Ol Pejeta safari lodge or tented safari camp.

Day 2 Full Day At Ol Pejeta

Nestled at the foot of Mount Kenya, Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a haven for wildlife.

This will be a full day of game viewing drives. Unforgettable experiences await you here: tracking rhinos with expert guides, riding horses alongside rare species like Grevy's zebra and Jackson's hartebeest and encountering the Big Five on game drives.

Enjoy morning and afternoon guided safaris with our knowledgeable safari guides. Game drives allow you to cover good distances in search of the resident wildlife, perhaps counting how many rhinos you can see in a drive.

A visit to the Chimpanzee Sanctuary is included, additionally you will also visit the endangered rhino species enclosure, where the last two remaining northern white rhino on Earth are found (at an additional cost), learn about the work being done to save this species.

Return to the camp/lodge for dinner and overnight at your Ol Pejeta safari lodge/ tented safari camp.

Day 3 Full Day Exploring Ol Pejeta Conservancy

Today, there’s so much to see in this special reserve – six prides of lions roam these plains along with other big cats and African wild dogs if lucky. We’ll explore the endangered species enclosure – a large drive-through area, home to a great population of black rhinos.

Dinner and overnight at your Ol Pejeta safari lodge / tented safari camp.

Day 4 Ol Pejeta – Masai Mara

After a final morning soaking in the views of Ol Pejeta, transfer to the airstrip for the scheduled flight to the Masai Mara, where the next three nights will be spent enjoying some of Africa's most classic safari scenes.

Landing right in the heart of this world-famous reserve. You will be met at the airstrip by your safari guide to transfer to your safari camp. We will start with a game-drive enroute to your camp, offering the perfect introduction to the vast savannah plains and stopping to watch any wildlife you encounter on the way.

We shall settle into your camp and enjoy lunch and time to relax.

All the big cats are here in Mara, and this is also home to leopards. There are also elephants and a huge variety of other animals. After lunch and afternoon tea you will have a game drive with an optional sundowner at a scenic spot, before heading back to camp.

Day 5 Masai Mara – Full Day

Awake to the natural sounds of the Mara’s birdlife. Leave camp soon after dawn to explore the reserve on the lookout for elephants, buffalo, giraffe, plains game and the big cats.

We shall navigate the Masai Mara reserve on a full day of unlimited game viewing   encountering the African big five and more of the lesser game.

We shall visit the Mara River where we may watch hippos & crocodiles or maybe if you visit during the Kenya great migration season (July – October).

Dinner and overnight at your Mara safari lodge / tented safari camp.

Day 6 Full-Day Exploring Masai Mara

Game drives take place in the early to mid-morning and in the mid- to late-afternoon, when wildlife is most active, offering the best sightings. The grassy plains are home to a wide range of species, from prides of lion to cheetah stalking their prey and hippo wallowing in muddy pools. There is never a dull moment in the Masai Mara. During the heat of the day we shall find a spot for lunch before we carry on with our afternoon drive.

Take to the skies on a hot-air balloon safari and marvel at the sweeping vistas of the landscape as you float above the wildlife below.

Day 7 Departure to Nairobi

Bid farewell to Masai Mara as you make your way to the airstrip after breakfast for a flight to Nairobi or the Kenyan beaches.

Your dedicated expert driver guide will assist you with the checkout process and proceed to Nairobi. Upon arrival in Nairobi, our guide will transfer you from here by private vehicle to the international airport, (JKIA) Jomo Kenyatta, where you can check-in for your international flight home or bring you to your Nairobi hotel.

Drop off at your Nairobi City hotel /Nairobi airport signaling the end of our Africa safari trip.
