Day 1 Mombasa - Tsavo East

Your driver/guide will pick you up from your Mombasa Beach resort and proceed down the Mombasa-Nairobi highway on your way to Kenya’s largest game reserve, Tsavo East National Park. In no time, you’ll pass through the Tsavo gate and take in the park’s unmistakable rugged landscape.

Before us is the beautiful and rugged expanse of Tsavo East, the largest park in Kenya. Famous for its man eating lions and elephants, we’ll head out in search of the wild game.

We’ll enjoy a lunch break at and perhaps a bit of relaxing time, allowing the mid-day heat to dissipate before taking an afternoon game drive.

The cooling plains will entice the wildlife back into the open, especially at the park’s watering holes where they gather in great numbers, drawn to the precious water.

As we wind up our first safari day, we may be blessed with a vivid African sunset, lighting our way.

Tonight, we’ll stay in Tsavo East safari lodge or tented safari camp.

Day 2 Tsavo East – Taita Hills Sanctuary

Short morning game viewing drive is scheduled at the Tsavo East this morning.

Now it’s a relatively short drive to Taita Hills Sanctuary with game en route on an approximate 3 hours’ drive to Taita Hills Sanctuary. Arrive in time for an appetizing lunch as you check in at Sarova Salt Lick Game Lodge.

This private sanctuary is located right next to Tsavo East, so it’s an easy hop to get here. The landscape in this park is more verdant than Tsavo, and the game viewing is every bit as good. The sanctuary offers good birdwatching but that isn’t Taita Hills’ main attraction.

A unique aspect of this small park is the rangers here usually have a very good idea where the larger animals can be found. It’s not unheard of for safari-goers to spot over a dozen species on a game drive.

Overnight will be at your Taita Hills safari lodge.

Day 3 Taita Hills Sanctuary – Amboseli

We’ll enjoy one more early morning game drive as we depart Taita Hills and then it’s a short run to our next and wildlife safari park, Amboseli National Park (approximately 3 hours).

It’s soon time for the short drive to Amboseli National Park and we’ll have lunch, relax and head out for an afternoon game drive.

Amboseli’s signature landmark is the grand form of Mt. Kilimanjaro soaking up the south view of the park. With the great herds of elephants and other wildlife, it all combines to create postcard views throughout the reserve.

We’ll spend the nights at your Amboseli safari lodge/ tented safari camp.

Day 4 Amboseli- Lake Naivasha

We have a lot to see and experience today, so let’s be up and bid adieu to the mighty mountain as we head out to the Great Rift Valley to view its dramatic towers and gorges.

We’re on our way to Lake Naivasha and will arrive in time for a fun adventure safari at Hell’s Gate.

We’ll take an afternoon drive to Hell’s Gate National Park for a game drive. Here is the only place one can walk inside the park as there are no predators. You will decide if you’ll do the game drive with the safari vehicle or hire a bicycle to cycle the 11 kms down towards the gorge. At the gorge you will get a guide who will direct you and share information about the rock layers.

This is a place of dramatic cliffs, hot springs, geysers and steaming vents here are dramatic proof of the geothermal activity below ground. But we’ll be gliding along on bicycles past impala, gazelle, zebra, giraffe and baboon. A fitting and joyful way to end a busy day of animal watching.

We’ll spend the evening at Lake Naivasha at your safari lodge or tented safari camp.

Day 5 Lake Naivasha – Masai Mara

We will depart early from Lake Naivasha to maximize our time at our next and Kenya safari destination, Masai Mara National Reserve. This is one of the top African photographic safari destinations with excellent game viewing all year round.

This is the big one – call it the best African wildlife safari destinations in the world.

We’ll have time to take our first game drive in the Mara this afternoon. Look for Africa’s Big Five – they’re all here. You’ll have your best chances of seeing lion and the other big cats as sightings are regularly reported.

The Mara is a picture postcard of Africa with its rolling savannahs, acacia trees and endless herds of migrating zebras and wildebeests. Here there are boundless populations of lions, leopards, cheetahs, and gazelle, plus hyena, jackal, buffalo and more.

Return for dinner and overnight at your Masai Mara tented safari camp/ safari lodge.

Day 6 Full Day At Masai Mara

This will be an exciting day of unlimited game drives through the grasslands of the Mara. Africa’s “Big Five” are a feature of the park and we’ll be on the lookout for them.

We’ll get started early to take advantage of this natural wealth on the first of unlimited game drives throughout the day. Just speak with your driver/guide as to how you’d like to plan your time in the park.

Another signature feature of the Masai Mara is the occurrence of the Kenya Great Migration safari (July – October) – simply the greatest procession of wildlife animals on the planet. During the season you’ll see uncountable hordes of gazelle, wildebeest, and zebra fording the Mara River in a timeless cycle as they search for more vegetation.

For a spectacular finish to your 7-day safari trip in Kenya, we offer an optional pre-dawn hot air balloon safari ride over the park. There’s nothing like rising with the sun over the great park and watching it come alive in the dawning day. You’ll be talking about it for years. Let us know about this and we will make the arrangements.

Day 7 Masai Mara - Nairobi

Wrapping up your Kenya safari package today is a leisurely morning breakfast at your tented safari camp/ safari lodge, afterward you have an option to visit the Masai village before starting your journey back to Nairobi.

Your dedicated expert driver guide will assist you with the checkout process and proceed to Nairobi with stops along the way. We’ll depart Masai Mara with a hot lunch stop along the way, arriving in Nairobi during late afternoon hours (approximately 15:00Hrs, typically 3:00 Pm) and bring you to your Nairobi hotel, or the Nairobi airport.

Drop off at your Nairobi City hotel /Nairobi airport signaling the end of your Kenya safari tour.

We hope you soaked up plenty of Kenya’s wildlife safari sightings on this busy tour. It’s been our pleasure to have you as our guest and from all of us at African Vulture Safaris, a big thanks!
